Citytrain network
Our Citytrain network connects much of South East Queensland. It extends from the centre of Brisbane South to Beenleigh and Robina on the Gold Coast, North to Ferny Grove, Shorncliffe, Doomben, Caboolture and Gympie, East to Cleveland and West to Ipswich and Rosewood.
The Citytrain network covers more than 740km of track and encompasses 146 stations.
Queensland Rail Travel network
Our Queensland Rail Travel network plays an important role in connecting regional Queensland and offers the largest and most comprehensive network of long distance and tourist trains in Australia. Queensland Rail's services extend along the Queensland coastline from Brisbane to Cairns and West to Charleville, Longreach and Mount Isa.
Our fleet includes the following services:
Coastal services
- Spirit of Queensland (Brisbane to Cairns)
Rockhampton Tilt Train (Brisbane to Rockhampton)
- Bundaberg Tilt Train (Brisbane to Bundaberg)
Outback services
- Spirit of the Outback (Brisbane to Longreach)
- The Inlander (Townsville to Mount Isa)
- The Westlander (Brisbane to Charleville)

Tourist trains
Queensland Rail operates two tourist train services offering unique and in some instances 'world renowned' rail travel experiences:
- Kuranda Scenic Railway (Kuranda to Cairns)
- Gulflander (Normanton to Croydon)
We have also retained a fleet of steam locomotives and wooden carriages for special operations and charters.
Network services
Queensland Rail also provides network services to businesses including specialist engineering, general engineering and technical advice.
We provide customer service to rail operators on our freight systems, including negotiating access to the network, and consultation to provide alignment with freight market requirements.
