Slips, trips, and falls are the most common cause of customer injuries on the Queensland Rail network. These incidents can result in anything from minor scrapes and strains to serious injuries requiring hospitalisation.
The issue
Our number one priority is ensuring our customers are safe on our trains and at our stations. We don't want to see you or any of our customers get hurt.
Over the past three years slips, trips and falls have accounted for the majority of customer injuries on the South East Queensland network. Many of these slips, trip and fall incidents were on stairs and escalators at our stations, and on train platforms.
To stay safe while travelling with us please:
-
Use lifts or ramps when carrying large items – If you have luggage, a pram, bike, or scooter, use the lift or ramp where available.
-
Stay alert and avoid distractions – Pay attention to your surroundings. Please look up, not down at your phone, when walking through stations, on platforms, and when boarding or disembarking.
-
Plan your journey and arrive early – Avoid rushing for your train.
-
Use escalators and stairs safely – Hold the handrail and take care.
Video - Please avoid rushing when using our stairs and use the handrail provided. When travelling with large items such as luggage, use the lifts where available.
The campaignThe 'Travel with Care' campaign highlights different actions customers can take to avoid slips, trips and falls while travelling with us.
By highlighting safe behaviours, it aims to create positive associations with and educate customers on, the safest ways to prevent injuries.
The campaign can be seen on social media and at stations.
