The Queensland Rail Interurban Multiple Unit 160, commonly referred to as an IMU 160 train, can run as a three-car unit or joined together as a six-car train.
Each carriage has standard seats and priority seats for people with disabilities, seniors, pregnant women, or adults carrying children.

Each train has allocated spaces for people who use mobility devices. Carriages with allocated spaces are signed on the outside of the train, they are usually the first or third in a three-car unit. Please ask a staff member if you are unsure.

IMU 160 trains also have quiet carriages in the second carriage of three-car trains and second and fifth of six-car trains. When using the quiet carriage we ask that you please refrain from having loud conversations, using mobile phones and noisy musical devices.

Each carriage of the upgraded IMU 160 has a hearing aid loop installed. CCTV cameras are throughout the train and at stations for your safety and security.

Independent boarding
The doors of the train are yellow with yellow and black diagonal stripes down the middle. A "Mind the step" warning is on both sides of the door, reminding customers of the gap and step between the train and platform.
The door open button is on a green "Push button to open door" sign and positioned on the train on both sides of the of the doors.
There are yellow hand rails on both sides of the entrance to the train.
The entrance is 1274mm wide.

Assisted boarding
Queensland Rail offers assisted boarding to customers on request.
If requested, the station or onboard staff will setup a ramp to help customers safely enter or exit the train. Please see our website for more information on assisted boarding.

When entering the first door at the front of the train, the interior of the train is open, there are yellow hand rails throughout the train for your stability and safety.

The unisex bathroom is on your left. To the right of the entrance on both sides there are allocated spaces for customers using mobility devices. These are signed on the floor with wheelchair symbols and have blue and white signage with the international symbol for access of a white wheelchair on a blue background nearby.

The doors to exit the train are marked with yellow and black diagonal stripes and have "Mind the step" and "Keep doorway clear" warning signs. The door open buttons on a green sign "Push button to open door" are located either side of the door.

In this carriage of the train is a unisex bathroom, with a wide 840mm rounded door. The door control panel is on the lefthand side at an accessible height and includes tactile buttons for opening and closing. A yellow hand rail is along the lefthand side of the doorframe next to the door control panel.
To enter the bathroom, press the open/close button, the door slides from the centre in two halves into the walls.
Toilet facilities can be in the first or third and fourth or sixth carriages of this train and can change with direction of travel.

The bathroom floor space is 1700mm x 2030mm. Yellow grab rails are on either side of the doorway, along the walls and next to the toilet.
The toilet has a blue seat for high contrast and has a height of 470mm.
Wall-mounted bins are provided for sanitary and rubbish disposal.
A baby change table is on the wall on the left-hand side of the sink.
Two Emergency help points are on the lefthand side of the toilet.
A wide mirror is on the wall, with a sink underneath. The sink has water, soap and a dryer.

To the right of the entrance on both sides there are allocated spaces for customers using mobility devices. There are two pull down seats on both sides in the allocated spaces and should be made available for people with a disability.
The aisles widths here are 2226mm.

This carriage features rows of seating with priority seats signed by blue and white signs near the seats.

The seats run along the walls facing into the centre aisle.

Wide windows line both sides, ensuring natural light and visibility.

The central aisle has a width of 1170mm.

Moving down the aisle of the train to the next set of doors, there are allocated spaces on both sides for customers using mobility devices. There are two pull down seats on both sides in the allocated spaces.
The aisles widths here are 2226mm.

The doors to exit the train are marked with yellow and black diagonal stripes and have "Mind the step" and "Keep doorway clear" warning signs. The door open buttons on a green sign "Push button to open door" are located on either side of the doors.

On the lefthand side there is an "Emergency help point" with a speaker and a button to speak to onboard staff in an emergency, and on the righthand side an "Emergency door release" panel with tactile instructions to open the door in an emergency.

Yellow hand rails lead to the door opening. The distance and height from the train to the platform can vary please also mind the step and gap to the platform when exiting the train.

The carriage has a row of priority seating followed by rows of standard seats in groups of two. Large windows run along both sides, providing clear visibility outside.

The central aisle has a width of 580mm.

The ceiling features ventilation panels, lighting and CCTV cameras to create a safe and comfortable environment for all customers.

All carriages are separated by open internal gangways. The gangway section moves with the train, please do not travel in the gangway and be careful moving through this area. The inter-carriage door width is 880mm with a narrower gangway width.

Please note that when the train is configured as a six-car train there is no internal access between the two three-car units.

When moving down the aisle the train has rows of seating, upholstered in a blue patterned for standard seats and red for priority seats. Each seat has a white frame and yellow hand rails.

Large windows run along both sides, providing clear visibility to the outside. The central aisle has a width of 580mm.

Some of these areas have a digital display screen near the seats provides additional information. This screen has no audio.
