The New Generation Rollingstock, commonly referred to as an NGR, has six carriages with a total length of 147 metres. Each carriage has standard seats as well as priority seats for people with disabilities, seniors, pregnant women, or adults carrying children.

Allocated spaces for people who use a mobility device are in the third and fourth carriages.

There are quiet carriages in the second and fifth carriages, signed both inside and outside of the train. When using the quiet carriage, we ask customers to please refrain from having loud conversations, talking on their mobile phones, or listening to loud music.

All NGR carriages have hearing aid loops (HAL), signs have the blue and white internationally recognised hearing loop symbol on them.

CCTV cameras are throughout the train and at stations for your safety and security.

Independent boarding
The doors of the train are yellow with black diagonal stripes down the middle. A "Mind the step" warning is on both sides of the door, reminding customers of the gap and step between the train and platform.
The door open button is on a green "Push button to open door" sign and positioned near the centre of the door slightly to the left-hand side.
There are yellow hand rails on both sides of the entrance to the train.
The entrance is 1260mm wide.

Assisted boarding
Queensland Rail offers assisted boarding to customers on request.
If requested, the station or onboard staff will setup a ramp to help customers safely enter or exit the train. Please see our website for more information on assisted boarding.

When entering the first door at the front of the train, the interior of the train is open with yellow hand rails available throughout for your stability and safety.

Priority seating is located near the entrance on both sides, covered in red upholstery with symbols showing the seats are reserved use for people with disabilities, seniors, pregnant women, or adults carrying children. Blue and white signs are used to help identify them.

Standard seats can be in sets of two or four and may also run along the carriage wall in a single line.

The inside of the doors are marked with black and yellow stripes down the centre, with caution signs asking customers to keep doorways clear and warning not to exit the train when doors are closing. The door open button is on a green "Push button to open door" sign and positioned near the centre of the door slightly to the righthand side.

There are two sets of four priority seats to the left, along both sides, marked with blue and white signs. Yellow hand rails frame the seating areas and extend to the ceiling to provide stability. A green "Emergency door release" panel is on the left and features a button and tactile instructions for use in an emergency. On the right side of the aisle there is an "Emergency help point" to speak with onboard staff in an emergency.

At the end of the carriage there is an area on the floor marked KEEP CLEAR, please do not stand or put items in this area.
The aisle width in this area is 1294mm.

There is priority seating to the right on both sides of the aisle, clearly marked with blue and white signs.

There is yellow hand rails throughout the train for stability. There are overhead rails and straps for customers to use while standing.

The aisle width for this area is 1294mm and then narrows to 664mm for the rest of the seating area.

The "Emergency door release" panel on the lefthand side features a button and tactile instructions for use in an emergency. On the opposite side has an "Emergency help point" to speak with onboard staff in an emergency.

Each area of the train has priority seating. Blue and white signs near the seats show they are reserved for people with disabilities, seniors, pregnant women, and adults carrying children.

A digital display screen near the seats provides additional information. This screen has no audio.

When moving down the aisle the train has rows of seating, upholstered in a patterned grey, blue and red design. Each seat has a white frame and yellow hand rails.

Large windows run along both sides, providing clear visibility to the outside. The central aisle has a width of 664mm.

The ceiling features ventilation panels, lighting and CCTV cameras to create a safe and comfortable environment for all customers.

All carriages are separated by internal doors, these are usually open. A gangway space connects the carriages, this section moves with the train, please do not travel in the gangway and be careful moving through this area. The inter-carriage door width is 880mm with a narrower gangway width.

The doors to exit the train are marked with yellow and black diagonal stripes and have "Mind the step" and "Keep doorway clear" warning signs. The door open buttons on a green sign "Push button to open door" are located in the middle of the door slightly on the righthand side.

On the lefthand side there is an "Emergency help point" with a speaker and a button to speak to onboard staff in an emergency, and on the righthand side an "Emergency door release" panel with tactile instructions to open the door in an emergency.

Yellow hand rails lead to the door opening. The distance and height from the train to the platform can vary please also mind the step and gap to the platform when exiting the train.

In carriage three there are allocated spaces on both sides for customers using mobility devices. These are signed on the floor with wheelchair symbols and have blue and white signage with the international symbol for access of a white wheelchair on a blue background nearby.

Yellow hand rails are throughout and there are emergency help points and customer/disability assistance points in the allocated spaces.

The Emergency door release panel, Emergency help points and Customer/disability assistance points are accessible, featuring tactile instructions.

Hanging straps offer support for standing customers.
The aisles widths here are 2308mm.

This carriage features rows of seating with priority seats signed by blue and white signs near the seats.

The seats run along the walls facing into the centre aisle. This section of the train has yellow hand rails throughout the carriage.

Black hand straps hang at intervals, providing stability for standing customers. Wide windows line both sides, ensuring natural light and visibility.

The central aisle has a width of 1294mm.

In this carriage of the train is a unisex bathroom with a wide 840mm rounded door. The door control panel is on the lefthand side at an accessible height and includes tactile buttons for opening and closing. A yellow hand rail is along the lefthand side of the doorframe next to the door control panel. To enter the bathroom, press the open/close button and the door slides into the wall in a righthand direction.

Upon entering the bathroom the floor space is 1630mm x 2190mm. Yellow grab rails are on either side of the doorway, along the walls and next to the toilet.
Wall-mounted bins are provided for sanitary and rubbish disposal, with signage to guide proper waste management.
A baby change table is on the wall on the left-hand side of the sink.
Two Emergency help points are on the lefthand side of the toilet.
A wide mirror is on the wall, with a sink underneath. The sink has water, soap and a dryer. A yellow hand rail runs along the bottom of the sink.

Between carriages three and four, where the toilets are located there is a narrow corridor.
Large windows offer clear views to the outside. Below the windows, a continuous yellow grab rail runs along the wall.
This passageway veers to the left after approximately two metres and then to the right for access between the carriages.

Once you have moved through the gangway, you will be in the next set of three-cars. These are a repeated design of the first three carriages, but in reverse order.
