Burpengary station reopened to customers and services on Monday 9 September, when major construction works for the station accessibility upgrade were complete.
Queensland Rail's Station Accessibility Upgrade Program makes it easier for customers to travel on our network whether you're pushing a pram, carrying luggage, using a wheelchair or injured, you can now use the station with ease.
Key features of the upgrade include:
A new footbridge with lift access
Improved accessible parking
Full length high-level platforms
Upgraded hearing augmentation loops and tactile ground surface indicators
Upgraded CCTV security cameras and lighting throughout the station and carpark
New wayfinding and platform signage
Accessible toilets
Accessible ticket windows
Improved seating and extended platform shelters
A park ‘n’ ride with space for almost 500 cars for customers
A 24-bicycle lock up enclosure with new security swipe access
New station office and facilities.
Completion of temporary arrangements and additional station upgrade works
Since the station reopened on Monday 9 September, we have continued to work to keep making things better for you, our customers.
Reopening to customers from Monday 11 November on the Burpengary Road side of the station will be:
A new kiss 'n' ride
Additional parking including accessible car parks, general car parks, and staff car parks
A new permanent bus stop location.
This means the temporary kiss 'n' ride which was accessed from the Rowley Road entrance will cease to be available from Monday 11 November.
A portion of carparks at the northern end of the Burpengary Road park 'n' ride will remain closed while final upgrade works are carried out.
Station features still to come include:
Additional parking at the northern end of the Burpengary Road side of station
The existing construction site office area in this carpark will remain in place until all upgrade works are complete.
Works will generally take place 6am to 6pm Monday to Saturday, unless notified. Customers and the local community are advised to be aware of these works and plan their station access accordingly.
Alternative transport
As Burpengary is accessible and open to train services and customers, the Shuttle bus 661 service is no longer operating.

Traffic changes – there will be stop and go traffic control at the Rowley Road carpark entrance at times to facilitate works and site deliveries
Noise – expect machinery and construction noise during the work period
Lighting – bright lights will be used during night works, which may cause some light pollution
Safety measures – for your safety, please use approved paths, follow directional signage, and obey traffic control measures.
