- Customers are advised to plan ahead over the Easter long weekend, with a four-day track closure in place on the Beenleigh/Gold Coast line.
- Buses will replace trains to get customers where they want to go.
- The closure is to allow essential works such as track maintenance, Loganlea Station Relocation works and supporting works for Cross River Rail.
A four-day closure of the Beenleigh/Gold Coast line from Good Friday (18 April) to Easter Monday (21 April) will allow crucial works to be carried out safely and efficiently in the rail corridor.
The train network will be closed between Boggo Road/Park Road station and Varsity Lakes station during this period, with both all-stops and express rail replacement buses running.
Customers are advised to plan their journey in advance and allow extra travel time.
Multiple crews across various projects and organisations have coordinated their schedules to allow works to be carried out efficiently on the same line over the same period.
Over the four days, Queensland Rail crews will be undertaking scheduled critical track maintenance and substation maintenance at Robina.
Loganlea Station Relocation works will also take place near Loganlea station, while signalling works will be undertaken between Beenleigh and Varsity Lakes.
As part of supporting works for Cross River Rail, crews will be busy in the rail corridor at Yeerongpilly, Salisbury, Dutton Park and Clapham Yard, including installing concrete, formwork and structural steel, as well as carrying out drainage works and earthworks.
Further south, works will take place on two of the three new Gold Coast stations at Hope Island and Merrimac, including excavation, concrete pouring and installing steel modules for station platforms.
All services will return to a regular timetable from first service on Tuesday 22 April.

Quotes attributable to Queensland Rail Head of South East Queensland Neil Backer:
“Track maintenance is a crucial component of running a safe and reliable network but in order to complete these works safely there will be impacts to Easter rail travel.
“These closures will allow crews to carry out a huge amount of works safely and efficiently in the rail corridor which is not possible while trains are running.
“While the closures are necessary over the quieter holiday period, we do understand that some customers will be inconvenienced.
“We appreciate your understanding as we improve the South East Queensland rail network."
Quotes attributable to Cross River Rail Delivery Authority CEO Graeme Newton:
“The Delivery Authority's scope goes beyond the underground stations and tunnels that make up Cross River Rail to include a raft of other supporting projects, including the surface station and stabling yard upgrades crews will be working on over Easter.
“But to deliver benefits such as new and accessible stations and modern stabling yards, it does mean track closures during traditionally quieter periods to allow works to be carried out safely and efficiently.
“Just some of the works that need to be carried out while trains aren't running include platform works at Salisbury and Yeerongpilly stations, signalling works at Clapham Yard, installation of overhead line structures at Dutton Park and station upgrades at Pimpama, Hope Island and Merrimac on the Gold Coast.
“We thank customers for their patience as we continue to deliver these important works to help upgrade and modernise the rail network."
Quotes attributable to Head of Translink Dr Deborah Hume:
“There will be plenty of alternative transport options available during the Easter closures, including express and all-stop rail replacement buses.
“If you are travelling during this period then please plan your journey in advance and allow extra time.
“All rail replacement bus timetables are in the journey planner, which can be accessed in the Translink app or on the Translink website.
“We know these works will inconvenience some customers, but Easter is about 65 per cent quieter on the train network compared to the previous week and that is why the works will be carried out over this four-day period."
