It shows a demonstration or trial run of the then brand-new air-conditioned Inlander train. The photo is taken at Toowoomba on a trial trip from Brisbane in February 1953. The locomotive has a name or headboard on the front with the word Inlander on it. A small crowd of people, including women and children are standing on a roadway and crossing watching the train as it arrives in Toowoomba. A signal gantry with timber semaphore signals is beside the railway line, showing which line (or road) the train shall take into Toowoomba. Behind the locomotive is the power car supplying electrical power for the air-conditioned carriages on the train. A diesel electric locomotive is at the front of the train. The locomotive number is 1329 and it is a 1300 class diesel electric locomotive. It entered service in 1970. A sign or headboard is on the front of 1329 with the name Sunlander on it. The Sunlander air conditioned train is behind the locomotive with a power car to supply electrical power for the train.
